I have been teaching for 10 years and have experience in a variety of grades and subjects. I have taught college-level Russian for adults, high school Russian for grades 9-12, elementary/middle school Russian for grades K-8, middle school ELA for grades 6-8, and general elementary for grade 3. My teaching experience has taken me to different states and regions including Toronto (ON), Columbus (OH), Middlebury (VT), and Phoenix (AZ). I hold a Masters in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Toronto, a BS in Food Science from Brigham Young University, and a BA in Russian from Brigham Young University. In addition, I am certified to teach secondary education by the AZ Department of Education. My fluency in Russian allows me to connect with students who speak this language as their native or second language. As an educator, I strive to make online learning enjoyable and effective for my students. I use a combination of online and in-person tools such as interactive whiteboards, puppets, ongoing games, and storyboards to engage learners. My genuine passion for the subject I am teaching and my care for my students' interests allows me to create a fun and supportive learning environment. I also make sure that my students are able to access the most effective online tools and encourage them to explore new information outside of our sessions. Outside of teaching, my personal interests and hobbies include chess, language learning, film, music, juggling, and puppetry. I believe that my interests greatly influence my teaching style and methodology, making my lessons unique and engaging for my students. I am looking forward to bringing my passion and enthusiasm for learning to our sessions and helping your child reach their full potential!

Hi my name is Mrs. VanSkiver (or Miss V) and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been teaching for two years and have experience working with learners in all grades PK-4. Prior to being the main classroom teacher I was a paraprofessional. I worked in many different special education classrooms as well as a 1-on-1 for special education students in general education classrooms. I have taught in Pennsylvania and hold a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education for grades PK-4 with an Instructional 1 certification. I was a dual major and also hold a Bachelors in Special Education for grades PK-12. In my online sessions, my main goal is to make learning fun and engaging for my students. I understand that every learner is unique and I strive to personalize the experience for each child. Whether it's through interactive activities, games, or incorporating their interests into our lessons, I am dedicated to making online learning an enjoyable experience for your child. My personal interests include time with my family, being a multi-sport mom, and taking long walks. These hobbies shape my teaching style as I love to motivate my students to do their best and also emphasize the importance of self-care. As we navigate this virtual learning journey together, I will encourage your child to not just excel academically, but also to take breaks, stay active, and find joy in learning. I can't wait to get to know your family and work with your child to reach their fullest potential!

With 11 years of experience as a 1st grade teacher in sunny Florida, I have found my passion in sparking a love for learning in young learners. My Bachelor's degree in Education has equipped me with the skills to connect with and understand my students on a deeper level. In my virtual classroom, I make sure that learning is fun and engaging for my kids. My students can expect a fun and interactive experience as we explore various subjects together. I am always enthusiastic and excited to see my students, and that energy is contagious! I believe that when kids are enjoying themselves, they are more receptive to learning. Ensuring effective online learning is my top priority, and I have several strategies that I use to achieve this. I actively monitor my learners' progress, making sure that they are not only engaged but also understanding the material being taught. If a student is struggling with a particular concept, I am patient and will reteach it in a way that they can better understand. I am committed to helping my students reach their full potential, and I will do whatever it takes to make that happen. When I'm not teaching, you can find me reading or spending time with my family. I am passionate about sharing my love for reading with my students and instill the importance of it in their lives. My love for reading also influences my teaching style, as I enjoy incorporating books and stories into my lessons. I believe that literature is a powerful tool that can open up a world of imagination and knowledge for my learners. I have 20 years of experience teaching learners in grades 1, 4, 5, and 6. I have taught in beautiful New Jersey and have found that my passion for teaching has only grown with each passing year. My degrees in Education and Social Work have allowed me to incorporate a holistic approach to teaching, making sure to not only educate my learners but also to support their social and emotional needs. I hold a certification in Elementary Education K-8 and am always seeking opportunities for growth and development. I am confident in my ability to connect with learners of all backgrounds and abilities. I strongly believe that education should be enjoyable and meaningful for learners. That is why I strive to make online learning fun and engaging by connecting the lessons to real-life scenarios. This approach not only helps learners understand the material better but also makes learning more enjoyable. I also make sure to utilize our time effectively and keep the lessons engaging to ensure that online learning is effective for my learners. When I'm not teaching, you can find me tending to my garden, exploring the thrift shops, and spending quality time with my children. These interests serve as a constant source of motivation and inspiration for my teaching style. I am looking forward to getting to know your family and working together to achieve our learning goals. Together, we can make this learning journey a fun and enriching experience for your kids.
