**Last Updated:04/07/2026**
It's important to us that we keep your information safe and secure. In order to help ClassDojo provide, maintain, protect and improve our services (the “ClassDojo Services”), ClassDojo shares information with a few other partners, vendors and trusted organizations (“Service Providers”) to process it on our behalf in accordance with our instructions, Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality, security or other requirements. These companies will only have access to the information they need to provide the ClassDojo Services.
You can find information on these Service Providers we work with below, including what data we share with them or they provide to us, the service they provide for ClassDojo (including the purpose of such disclosure) and links to their respective privacy policies or other documents that govern how they handle the information the process on our behalf.
Like any other organization, we also use “IT” business services or internal tools such as Gmail, Google Drive, Asana and Slack to operate our organization (“Internal Tool”). These Internal Tool services may incidentally contain personal information (e.g., email address or contact handle) and we apply the Service Provider restrictions described above and have included these in a separate chart below.
There are a few vendors that we also utilize in providing (or in connection with) the ClassDojo corporate website (“ClassDojo Website”), but which are not utilized in logged-in areas in the ClassDojo Services, we have listed those vendors below the chart for the ClassDojo Services.
We have indicated below in the Technical Service Providers section both the names and categories of Service Providers collecting or maintaining personal information through the Service, as well as the purpose for such disclosure, and an indication on whether these Service Providers are integral to a particular product or feature used within the Service (or the Service generally). This list may change over time, and we’ll work hard to keep it up-to-date. If you have any questions, please get in touch here.
Technical Service Providers
| Cloud Infrastructure and Database Services | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Name of Service Provider with Link to Privacy Policy or relevant privacy documentation | How ClassDojo uses the Service Provider and purpose for disclosure to the Service Provider | What user information is shared or collected by this Service Provider and/or passed back to us from the Service Provider? | Entity location (country) and country of data storage | Integral when used in connection with these ClassDojo products and features |
| Algolia | This service helps teachers and parents easily search for their school | Precise location information (not for student users) include latitude and longitude. | Entity Location: United States Data Storage Location: United States | All search features (in school and out of school) |
| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides ClassDojo with servers, databases, analytics, network infrastructure and email services. Amazon Rekognition using the CompareFaces and DetectFaces features to provide facial recognition and face detection services in connection with photos. See our Biometrics Privacy Notice and FAQs for more information. | AWS: All user personal information and uploaded content, device ID, request data, and all logs are stored on AWS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. All personal information is encrypted at rest. Amazon Rekognition: CompareFaces: Facial geometry template: A mathematical representation (array of facial-feature data points) created through vectorization of the parent’s selected reference photograph of their child from their device (a “facial geometry template”). Generated by Amazon Rekognition, the collection and processing does not occur on ClassDojo’s servers. Created and temporarily stored on the user’s device. Transmitted to AWS only transiently (seconds) to perform the requested comparison. Not persisted by AWS or ClassDojo after processing. This facial geometry template is then used to compare against faces in photos and if the template matches a detected face, those photos are presented to the parent. For more information on Amazon processing to create the facial geometry template see here. Reference photo: The photograph selected by the parent or user on their device to serve as the basis for the facial geometry template and face comparison. May be temporarily transmitted to Amazon Rekognition solely to perform the comparison the parent (or user) requests and generate the related temporary vectorizations. Other than to transit to Amazon Rekognition, ClassDojo does not separately collect and store your selected reference photo for this feature. Exclusion templates: Temporary vectorizations of other children’s faces detected in the searched school or class photos (“exclusion templates”). These exclusion templates are created solely to exclude non-matching faces from the results returned to the requesting parent. Exclusion templates are not used to identify or match those other children across photos and are used only during the requested comparison, and are deleted by ClassDojo within seconds after the exclusion comparison. Key safeguards for CompareFaces: Facial geometry templates and exclusion templates are handled only transiently (seconds) by ClassDojo and AWS to perform the requested comparison. They are deleted within seconds after the comparison is complete. * CompareFaces is a stateless, non-storage API operation—Amazon does not persist facial geometry templates, exclusion templates, face vectors, or input image bytes after processing is complete.* ClassDojo has configured an AI services opt-out policy with Amazon, which instructs Amazon not to store or use any content processed through Rekognition to develop, train or improve Amazon’s services or technologies.* Parents may submit a suppression request if they do not want exclusion templates created of their child. 2. DetectFaces Input Image / Image Bytes: To perform face detection tasks like determining whether a photo is a group photo, ClassDojo may temporarily transmit the image being processed, or image bytes from that image, to Amazon Rekognition solely to detect whether faces are present and return the face details described below. There is no reference photo used. Face Details: DetectFaces may return face details such as a bounding box coordinates (location of the face within an image) for each detected face, facial landmarks (e.g. eye position, nose, mouth locations), pose, quality metrics (brightness, sharpness) confidence score. ClassDojo may also process the image itself, or image bytes temporarily transmitted to AWS Rekognition, to obtain those returned face details. Key safeguards for DetectFaces * DetectFaces is a stateless, non-storage API operation, meaning Amazon does not persist the data returned after processing is complete.* ClassDojo has configured an AI services opt-out policy with Amazon, which instructs Amazon not to store or use any content processed through Rekognition to develop, train or improve Amazon’s services or technologies.* ClassDojo does not use DetectFaces to create a persistent face-detection database for this feature. * DetectFaces does not perform face matching or identification across photos. | Entity Location: United States Data Storage Location: United States | AWS: All products and features (in school and out of school) Amazon Rekognition:1. CompareFaces: Integral when a parent has opted in to use the “My Kid In Memories” feature. The CompareFaces operation allows a parent or user to identify their child in school or class photo collections by comparing a reference photograph against detected faces in those photos. 2. DetectFaces: Integral when a parent (or other user) is using the Memories feature or feed feature to filter and organize from Memories or the Class Story or School Story. The DetectFaces operation identifies whether faces are present in an image and returns descriptive attributes for each detected face. This operation does not perform face matching or determine whether one face matches another across photos. There is no reference photo used to create a facial geometry template with DetectFaces. |

| Apple Speech Framework | Apple provides on-device speech recognition and classroom audio recording capabilities used by ClassDojo for two features: 1. Sidekick Live: Uses Apple’s SpeechAnalyzer / SpeechTranscriber APIs to perform on-device transcription of classroom audio captured on the teacher’s device. The audio is converted to a text transcript (“Classroom Audio Transcript”) entirely on the teacher’s device. ClassDojo does not collect or store the audio recording. Only the resulting Classroom Audio Transcript is transmitted to ClassDojo for further processing through ClassDojo’s AI Classroom Tools, including by ClassDojo’s LLM Service Providers. 2. Live Points: Uses Apple’s SFSpeechRecognizer API with on-device recognition required, together with a custom speech language model, to convert live classroom speech into local text on the teacher’s device for pattern matching against point-award commands. Live Points does not create a classroom transcript for LLM analysis. See our Biometrics Privacy Notice and FAQs for more information. | Apple On-Device Speech Recognition: All audio processing occurs on the teacher’s device. Apple does not receive, access, or store any audio, transcription output, or customization data through ClassDojo’s use of these features. 1. Sidekick Live (SpeechAnalyzer / SpeechTranscriber): Audio recording: Classroom audio (including student voices) is captured on the teacher’s device microphone. The audio is processed on-device by Apple’s on-device speech recognition engine and is immediately destroyed after transcription. ClassDojo does not collect or store the audio. Classroom Audio Transcript: The text-only transcript produced by Apple’s on-device engine is transmitted from the teacher’s device to ClassDojo and then through ClassDojo’s AI Classroom Tools, including to ClassDojo’s LLM Service Providers for further processing (e.g., summaries). The transcript may incidentally contain student names or statements spoken during class. 2. Live Points (SFSpeechRecognizer): Live classroom audio: While Live Points is active, all audible classroom speech near the teacher’s device microphone is captured and processed on-device by Apple’s on-device speech recognition. The audio is processed as transient data held temporarily during recognition rather than being saved as a persistent recording. No audio is sent to Apple, ClassDojo, or any third party. Ephemeral local text: Recognized words and phrases are generated on-device solely for local pattern matching against point-award commands. If no valid command is detected, recognized words are discarded on the teacher’s device and no data leaves the device. If a valid command is detected, only structured point-award data (e.g., student identifier, point value, behavior category) is sent to ClassDojo—not audio, transcript text, or speech metadata. Local customization inputs: Student roster names, behavior/skill labels, aliases, pronunciation data, and command templates may be used to build or prepare a local custom speech language model on the teacher’s device. Apple states that custom language model customization data is never sent over the network and that all customized requests are serviced strictly on device. Key safeguards: ClassDojo has configured Apple’s on-device speech recognition so that audio stays on the teacher’s device and is not sent to Apple over the internet. Apple does not receive the audio, transcription output, or customization data through this speech-recognition flow and cannot use that data for model training. No voiceprint templates, speaker identification models, or voice signatures are created by Apple’s speech recognition engine as part of the speech-to-text conversion process. ClassDojo does not collect or store the audio recording for either feature. Live Points does not use ClassDojo’s LLM Service Providers. No generative large language model is involved in the matching or auto-award step. | Entity Location: United States Data Storage Location: On the teacher’s device only (no data is transmitted to Apple’s servers or stored by Apple) | Apple Speech Framework 1. SpeechAnalyzer / SpeechTranscriber: Integral when a teacher uses the Sidekick Live feature to record and transcribe classroom audio for AI-powered analysis. 2. SFSpeechRecognizer: Integral when a teacher uses the Live Points feature for voice-assisted awarding of classroom points. |
