With 7 years of experience teaching learners in grades 5-12 and a degree in MAT Secondary English Education, I have a passion for helping students improve their reading and writing skills. I’ve had the privilege of teaching in Georgia as well as online worldwide, connecting with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Through my years of teaching, I’ve learned the value of creating a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages growth and confidence in my learners. To make online learning fun and engaging, I believe it’s important to incorporate interactive tools that spark curiosity and encourage active participation. From polls and quizzes to breakout rooms and group projects, I love finding ways to make lessons dynamic and enjoyable for my learners. I also make sure to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere by incorporating student interests and icebreakers that help everyone get to know each other. In addition, I use a variety of media, such as videos, visuals, and live demonstrations, to keep lessons interesting and cater to different learning styles. Outside of teaching, I love exploring new places and trying out new experiences that fuel creativity and joy. Whether it’s trying a new recipe, reading a good book, or spending time with loved ones, I believe in finding a balance between work and activities that bring happiness and growth. My personal interests definitely influence my teaching style and methodology, as I strive to create engaging and meaningful lessons that not only educate but also inspire and connect with my learners. I am excited to bring my unique approach to our learning sessions and work together to achieve your goals!

I have been a teacher for 18 years, working with learners in elementary (K-5) and middle school (4-8) in Ohio, Georgia, Virginia, and Maryland. I hold a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialization in Middle Grades (4-9). In addition, I am certified in Educational Leadership K-12, Middle Grades Education (4-6), and International Baccalaureate (K-12). My goal as a tutor is to make online learning enjoyable and effective for kids. Drawing on my extensive experience in curriculum design and professional development, I use interactive tools, gamified assessments, and project-based learning to promote student voice and choice. I am also well-versed in instructional technology and have created a virtual instructional library. This allows me to not only make online learning accessible and inclusive, but also highly motivating and aligned with academic goals. To ensure effectiveness, I use data-driven instructional strategies and continuous formative assessment to meet diverse student needs. Additionally, I incorporate practices such as differentiated instruction, targeted interventions, and social-emotional learning (SEL) supports to create a positive and productive learning environment. I believe that strong collaboration with families and colleagues is key, and I regularly monitor student progress to adjust my teaching to ensure all learners thrive. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching youth sports, playing guitar, and staying active through running and weight training. These interests not only help me stay balanced and energized, but also influence my teaching style and methodology. Through coaching sports, I have honed my leadership and motivational skills, which I bring into my teaching through team-building and classroom management strategies. My love for music allows me to infuse creativity into my lessons, while my passion for fitness and personal growth helps me model perseverance and goal-setting for students. I am excited to bring elements of collaboration, rhythm, and wellness into our learning journey together!

Hello! My name is Ms. Sarah, and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been teaching for over 20 years and have experience working with learners from Pre-Kindergarten through 9th grade. My passion for education and dedication to my students have enabled me to teach a wide variety of subjects, including elementary music, elementary and middle school math, and special education. I have taught in my home state of North Carolina throughout my entire career and possess a diverse educational background. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Music in Music Therapy, and I am currently working towards an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Since I love being a student just as much as I love teaching, I look for opportunities to learn as much as I can from wherever I can! This has led to certifications in teaching students with Specific Learning Disabilities, such as the Orton-Gillingham Method and Dyscalculia frameworks, and I am a National Board Certified Teacher. With my extensive experience and qualifications, I am confident in my ability to provide engaging and effective tutoring sessions using explicit, multisensory, and systematic methods that are FUN, ENGAGING, & IMPACTFUL. As a tutor, I make online learning fun and engaging for my students by celebrating both their big and small accomplishments. I believe that mistakes are proof of effort and encourage my learners always to try their best. To ensure that online learning is effective, I employ a variety of strategies, including providing ample practice opportunities, interactive activities, and maintaining a good pace - I like to say that we'll "go as fast as we can, but as slow as we need." :) Outside of teaching, I enjoy singing with a 17-piece jazz band, gardening, crafting, and spending as much time as possible with my family doing things together outdoors. My creative hobbies have influenced my teaching style, as I continually seek new and innovative ways to make learning enjoyable for my students, and I particularly enjoy using multi-sensory methods for learning. I am excited to share my knowledge and passion for education with you and your family. Let's start this learning journey together!
