Science Tutoring for 6th Grade

I have been teaching elementary school for over 30 years! I love my job and am passionate about teaching children and helping them become successful. I have taught all grades K-8, as well as high-school remedial math classes. I was named Outstanding Educator of the Year, and have been both a classroom teacher and an administrator. I have a master's degree in education and a PhD in educational leadership. I currently teach 2nd grade, mentor new teachers, and do trainings in new curriculums. I love tutoring and working one-on-one with students who need additional help or need a challenge and enrichment. I have a husband, 2 daughters/son-in-law, and 2 grandsons! I love spending time with my family, reading, and being outdoors. I am currently available as a tutor Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

I have been teaching for 4 years and have experience in a variety of grades and subjects, including 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th-12th English and history. My teaching career has taken place primarily in Indiana, where I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In addition to my degree, I also hold a certification in elementary education and secondary English. Outside of teaching, I have a few interests and hobbies that keep me busy. I am a proud sugar glider parent and enjoy raising these unique creatures. I also love to paint and read in my free time. In fact, my passion for reading greatly influences my teaching style. There is nothing more rewarding than helping a student find the joy in learning how to read independently. I am looking forward to getting to know your learner and helping them reach their full potential in our 1:1 sessions together!

As an experienced teacher with 20 years of experience, I have taught all subjects from 1st to 6th grade in North Carolina and Michigan. Plus, my Elementary Self Contained certification allows me to provide specialized support to students with diverse learning needs. When it comes to making online learning fun and engaging, I like to add movement and physical engagement. This not only keeps the learners active and focused, but also breaks up the monotony of sitting in front of a screen. Additionally, I use my love for music to create fun and educational songs that help students remember important concepts. It's also important for me to ensure that online learning is effective, so I use various strategies such as exit slips and quick assessments to track student progress and adjust my teaching accordingly. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, shopping, attending live music events, and watching baseball. These interests may not seem related to teaching, but they actually play a big role in my teaching style and methodology. Being a lover of music, I have a knack for creating catchy and memorable tunes that make learning fun. Plus, my love for reading and continued learning helps me stay current and innovative in the classroom. With 15 years of experience teaching kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade, I’ve had the joy of watching learners grow in math, science, and reading. I love making learning fun! I have been teaching for more than 10 years, and I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten level all the way through 8th grade. Over the past 17 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching a diverse range of learners in grades 1st through high school, covering all content areas. Originally from Louisiana, I have also taught in Mississippi and Alabama, gaining experience in different education systems and cultures. I hold a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree and a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in STEM. In addition, I have obtained teaching certificates in both Mississippi and Alabama for grades K-6. My qualifications, combined with my years of teaching experience, equip me with the necessary skills to effectively support your child's learning journey. That's why I love to use bright visuals and incorporate dance parties, trivia, and games into my lessons.
