Writing Tutoring for 2nd Grade

I have been teaching for 6 joyful years and couldn't imagine doing anything else. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and third grade in the beautiful state of Massachusetts. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I also have experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to learners of various ages. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, and a CAGS in Early Childhood Education. I am also certified to teach English as a Second Language. This background and experience allow me to provide a well-rounded and personalized learning experience for my learners. When it comes to online learning, I believe in making it interactive, creative, and using multimedia to keep learners engaged and having fun. I also use strategies such as active learning and regular feedback and check-ins to ensure that online learning is effective and beneficial for my learners. Outside of teaching, I love crafting, reading, and traveling. These interests often influence my teaching style and methodology, as I enjoy incorporating hands-on experiences and real life examples into my lessons. With 13 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of teaching 2nd and 3rd graders in all subjects. I have taught in both Virginia and California, and am now excited to bring my expertise to North Carolina for the upcoming school year! I hold a Masters of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and am also a multiple subject credentialed teacher in both California and North Carolina. When I'm not cheering them on, I love spending time outside with my dogs or working in my garden. Teaching has always been my passion, and it’s something I’ve dreamed of doing for as long as I can remember. I’ve been fortunate enough to teach for the past two years in Illinois, working with grades 2-6 and focusing on subjects like reading, math and writing. Making sure that my students are able to enjoy and engage with their learning is a top priority for me, especially in the online learning space. That's why I love incorporating hands-on activities and interactive discussions into our virtual lessons. By making learning more dynamic, I am able to keep my students' attention and help them truly understand the material. I also use strategies like asking questions and having students solve problems on their own to ensure that our online lessons are just as effective as in-person classes. When I'm not teaching, I love to spend my time reading and playing volleyball. Recently, I also started my own small crafting business, which has been a fun and creative outlet for me. Over the course of my career, I have taught elementary math and provided reading remediation for middle-school learners, helping students build confidence and master essential skills. I currently serve as a dyslexia interventionist, where I specialize in structured literacy and individualized support.
