Math Tutoring for 4th Grade

Although I'm just beginning my teaching adventure, my heart is set on helping kids explore the wonders of math and science. I’m currently working on my degree in middle childhood education right here in Ohio, where I believe every day holds a new opportunity for learning fun! To make online learning a blast, I love to mix things up! I use games and friendly competitions to keep learners engaged and excited about their studies. I know that taking breaks and getting kids involved in their lessons really helps them soak up the material while keeping the energy high. Learning should be an adventure, and I’m here to guide each student on their unique path! Outside of teaching, I am a camp counselor, which has given me awesome insight into understanding children and their unique needs. I enjoy quilting and swimming, and I often bring that creativity and joy into my teaching style. I can’t wait to share my passion for learning with you and create a fun, supportive environment where everyone can thrive!

I have been a passionate educator for 8 years and have experience teaching General Education (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies…) to learners in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. I have taught in both Florida and North Carolina, and I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education and a Master's in Curriculum Instruction. My goal is to create a supportive and positive environment for my students to develop a strong math identity and a growth mindset. In my online sessions, I use a balanced approach of inquiry and explicit instruction to make learning engaging and accessible for all my learners. I believe in leveraging technology tools and providing personalized feedback to ensure effective online learning. I also encourage participation and stick to a routine to create a sense of structure. My ultimate goal is to foster a supportive environment where my learners feel engaged and motivated to learn. When I'm not teaching, you can find me exercising, hiking, dancing, sleeping, reading, and watching movies. My personal interests and hobbies may not seem related to teaching, but they influence my teaching style and methodology in many ways. My love for education and mathematics is a huge part of my life, and I strive to pass on that passion to my students. I can't wait to get to know your family and join you on this learning journey!

I have been teaching for 10 years and during that time, I have had the privilege of working with amazing learners in Kindergarten through 6th grade. My focus has been on Special Education, teaching subjects such as math, reading, science, social studies, and daily living skills to students in 4th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade, as well as those aged 18-21. My teaching experience has been in Missouri, and I hold degrees in Elementary Education, Mathematics, and Mild to Moderate Cross Categorical Education. I also have a Masters in Autism, which allows me to better support my students with learning differences.

I have been a tutor for 13 years and have taught a variety of grades and subjects. In my professional teaching career, I have taught Middle School Math for grades 6-8 and have also tutored students in Math ranging from Kindergarten to 9th grade. I have had the pleasure of teaching in Missouri and have found great joy in working with students in this region. I hold a BA in Science of Education and have obtained certifications in Middle School Math for grades 5-9 as well as B-12 Family and Consumer Sciences. With these qualifications, I am confident in my abilities to help your learner excel in their academic endeavors. The language I speak is English. My passion for teaching is driven by my enthusiasm and creativity. I strive to make online learning enjoyable and effective for my students through interactive programs, storytelling, and asking thought-provoking questions. To ensure that online learning is effective, I encourage my learners to explain and reflect on their problem-solving process, as well as to find and correct mistakes in problems. Beyond teaching, some of my interests and hobbies include playing with puppies, reading, and living in the country. While these may not directly influence my teaching style or methods, they bring a positive energy and unique perspective to my interactions with my learners and their families. Hello! My name is Alley Wilson, and I’ve spent the past seven years teaching students in kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I have a deep passion for helping children develop a strong foundation in their learning—while also encouraging them to build on the skills they already have. Throughout my teaching career, I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, including students involved in speech services and those with learning disabilities. This experience has strengthened my belief that every child learns differently, and that success comes from finding the right approach for each individual. I have been teaching for 20 years and have had the pleasure of working with a variety of learners. From 4th to 12th grade, I have taught everything from math and science to biology and forensics. My experience has taken me to Florida, Utah, and Oregon, where I have gained a diverse understanding of different teaching methods and approaches. I hold a BS in Biology and an MS in Curriculum & Instruction. I am also certified in PK-12 Integrated Science in Oregon. I have been in education for the past 15 years. I started with student teaching in second grade and during this time I was tutoring at STARS math and reading academy with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. When I first started teaching I worked with gifted and talented students in 3rd grade. I stayed in 3rd grade for the next school year and then moved to first. I worked with first grade for most of my teaching experience but also was working with 5th and 6th grade students as well. Then I spent 2 school years as a reading interventionist for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. This past school year I was a 4th/5th grade math and science teacher. Currently I am fifth grade teacher at a brand new charter school, teaching all subjects. I have my bachelor's in elementary education, my masters in education administration and also am a reading recovery certified through Clemson University.
