Writing Tutoring for 12th Grade

I have been teaching for 15 years, with experience in general and special education. I have taught multiple subjects and grade levels.

With three years of teaching under my belt, I have worked with little learners in Kindergarten and PreK, as well as fifth graders in Alabama. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with endorsements in English and Social Studies.

I have spent the last two years teaching high schoolers in Ohio, but my heart truly belongs to younger learners.

I have been teaching for 10 years and have experience teaching learners in Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade in all subjects. I have taught in sunny Florida and hold a BA in Elementary Education (K-6) and a MS in Literacy (K-12). I am also ESOL (English as a Second Language) endorsed, which allows me to effectively teach students whose first language is not English. I believe in creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all learners and am always looking for ways to improve my teaching strategies. In my free time, I enjoy baking, crafting, and spending time with my family. These hobbies definitely influence my teaching style, as I love incorporating hands-on activities and creative experiences into my lessons. I believe that by making learning fun and engaging, students are more likely to retain the information and enjoy the process. I am committed to finding ways to connect each learner's interests and strengths to their learning, and am excited to get to know your family and your child as we embark on this learning journey together.

I love teaching! I'm excited when my students learn new concepts (whether it's working with numbers or reading new words). Active learning should be both meaningful and enjoyable, laying a foundation for lifelong learning. I have over twenty years of experience teaching in the classroom, including advanced learners (Gifted/ Talented), Spanish, Reading, English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. My specializations include grades K-8, bilingual education, Spanish Immersion, reading instruction, teaching writing, supporting students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and international education. With over 30 years of experience as an educator at various levels, my work has centered on supporting student success and academic growth. Currently, I serve as an instructional coach for Chicago Public Schools, where the focus is on helping teachers refine their practice to positively impact student learning. My educational background includes an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, an M.A. in Teaching, and a B.S. in Accounting, along with both Administrative and Teaching Licenses. This combination of experience and training allows me to approach tutoring with a deep understanding of instruction, curriculum, and student needs.

With 30 years of teaching under my belt, I've had the pleasure of guiding kids from Kindergarten through High School in all kinds of subjects—whether it’s Elementary English Language Arts, Science, or even Music and Piano, I love bringing learning to life! Florida has been my teaching playground, where I’ve seen learners shine in their unique ways. In our online sessions, I'm all about making learning joyful! I use an animated but calm tone of voice, sprinkle in some humor, and turn lessons into fun games. Personal stories? Oh, I have plenty! My passion for storytelling and music often finds its way into our lessons, making the experience memorable and engaging. I believe everyone can enjoy learning, and a little laughter goes a long way. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me curled up with a good book, playing the piano, or creating scrapbooks filled with memories. I love exploring the great outdoors with my family and chatting with friends. These interests fuel my teaching style, spreading my love for stories and creativity to my learners.
