With six years of teaching experience, I have had the opportunity to work with learners of various ages and backgrounds, but my passion lies in teaching kids from 2nd to 6th grade. My teaching experience includes 3rd grade Science and Intervention, 4th Grade Reading, as well as 5th grade Math and ELAR. I have taught in Texas during the duration of my teaching career and have a Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education from Baylor University. My qualifications also include ESL, GT, Texas Reading Academy, and being Apple Teacher Certified. Besides my love for teaching, I also have an interest in movies, travel, reading, and watching college football. Hi! My name is Mrs. Malamphy. I hold a current K-8 teaching license and have a Master of Education from Marymount University in Virginia. I have continued my education by completing coursework in a Graduate Professional Endorsement in Reading, Literacy and Learning from Longwood University. I most recently (Aug 2023 through May 2024) completed coursework in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) through Lexia and a Graduate course from the American College of Education. I have eight years of experience as a classroom teacher and the past two years on-line tutoring. But I have many more years of experience, including reading intervention through the public schools and private tutoring. I love to teach! It is my passion! It is my purpose! Therefore, I keep continuing my education as a life-long learner to inspire students to become life-long learners, leaders and readers! Reading intervention is key to unlocking their comprehension skills. It is hard to comprehend what is being read if the reader is struggling with decoding the words being read. I have worked with many students, including those diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, to help provide the strategies and motivation to turn struggling readers into successful readers! I will incorporate your child's interests into my instruction so that they stay engaged and discover that reading is fun! My students have taken assessments where they fell below the state assessment benchmark in the Fall to exceeding the state assessment benchmark in the Spring! I will provide a scope and sequence reading program that incorporates the current findings from the science of reading. The scope and sequence that I use can be found on the University of Florida Literacy Institute's (UFLI) website. This structured literacy program will empower your student with the skills needed to become a successful reader and speller! I look forward to working with your child!
