I love spending my weekends with my family, whether we’re relaxing at home, enjoying time outdoors, or exploring new places together. Hello! I’m Dr. Jay, a dedicated special educator based in Mississippi. I'm Laura, and I've been teaching for 10 years now (11 school years!) I have taught Pre-K - 10th grade in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and ELL education. I am currently teaching 6th grade Science and enjoy continuing to teach Math and English through Dojo.

Hello. My name is Kristy and I love helping children grow. I have been teaching in elementary for 12 years now- 7 years in an autism program and 4 years in third grade. Seeing students show growth and learn about themselves along the way is the best part of the job. I have a lot of experience tutoring one on one students as well as small groups. I enjoy allowing students to take accountability for their own learning. Do I actually understand? What do I need to feel better about my learning? A lot of times we tend to teach and assume students are all going to understand the same way something is taught; which is not the case. I am the co-author of Liven Up Your Library: Design Engaging and Inclusive Programs for Teens and Tweens (ISTE 2022) and Seasons of Literacy: A Monthly Guide to Growing Lifelong Readers and Writers (Solution Tree 2025).

I was a classroom teacher for 14 years, teaching reading, writing, and social studies for 4th through 8th grade on the southside of Chicago. I stepped into tutoring with Dojo Tutor in early 2024, a few months after my daughter was born! I hold a Master's in Education from Northwestern and a Bachelor's of Science in History with a minor in Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University. I currently hold a professional educator's license as well. My personal interests and hobbies include gardening, singing, playing piano, being active, cooking, and spending time with my husband and daughter.
