Math Tutoring for 6th Grade

I have taught all grades from 2nd through high school, with the most time spent in 9th and 10th grade. Most recently I was an administrator in a large high school until I resigned to relocate and focus on my daughters. I've been an instructional leader with a focus of putting my students' needs first since I first stepped foot in the classroom. I'm so grateful to be back to working directly with students in this capacity.

My name is Samuel, and I work with elementary students in reading, math, science, Spanish, and STEAM. I also enjoy introducing students to robotics and circuitry projects. There’s nothing better than helping students achieve their best by making learning fun, hands-on, and full of discovery while partnering with families to celebrate growth. Hi, I’m Gina! I’m an educator who loves learning just as much as I love teaching. Personal growth is a big part of my life. You can find me listening to podcasts like Mel Robbins on my commutes into town and staying curious about what inspires people to become their best selves. I’m also 200-hour yoga certified, something I pursued because of its therapeutic benefits and the way it helps people feel connected to themselves and the world around them. Outside of education, I love listening to live music, enjoying great meals on sunny patios, and spending time with my two cats and my husband, who teaches high school math. Everything I do is driven by a deep desire to help myself and others grow with compassion, stay curious, and see learning as an exciting part of life.

I’m finishing my 13th year as a special education teacher. While I have a lot of experience working with students who have special needs, I’ve also spent many years helping students in general education. I’ve taught kids from 3rd through 8th grade and have worked with students who have all kinds of learning styles and needs. Tutoring has always been an important part of what I do. Over the years, I’ve helped many students one-on-one. One of my most special experiences was tutoring a student from 1st grade all the way through their first year of college! I’ve seen how much of a difference tutoring and personalized help can make for kids—both during school and after school. I’m really excited to work with students and families from all over the country. I love helping kids set goals and feel confident in what they’re learning. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my pets, reading, gardening, listening to music, and traveling when I can.

I enjoy blending creativity with structure, using tools like interactive quizzes and games to make lessons memorable. Outside of the classroom, I have a passion for lifelong learning and I enjoy exploring new topics and expanding my knowledge. I also have a penchant for shopping, finding joy in discovering unique and interesting items. Additionally, I appreciate the experience of dining out at restaurants, relishing the opportunity to savor different cuisines and engage in the vibrant atmosphere of culinary establishments.

With 20 years of teaching experience, I have had the joy of working with young learners from Kindergarten through 8th grade, covering everything from math and reading to English as a Second Language and creative writing. I've taught in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and across the country through virtual classrooms, even connecting with amazing kids in China! Learning can be an exciting adventure, and I’m here to help you every step of the way. To make our online sessions fun and engaging, I love to use props, photos, and hand motions! I’m a little silly, which means we’ll have lots of laughs while we learn. I ask lots of questions—not only about our lessons but also about your lives. It’s important that we connect, so you can understand not just the content but also who I am and what I love! If distractions pop up, no worries! We’ll discuss what you have and get right back on track together. When I’m not teaching, you might find me reading thrillers or historical fiction, trying out Zumba or yoga at the gym, or working on my puzzles. I even authored a children's board book! I believe these interests help me connect with my learners, especially when I share my own books with you. Together, we’ll make learning a fantastic journey!

Hi my name is Mrs. Wild and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! Through my 25 years of teaching experience, I have had the opportunity to work with learners in grades 5 through 9, teaching a variety of subjects including Common Core Math, Elementary Education, and Middle School curriculum. I have been honored as SMECO Science Teacher of the Year and I am an alumni of the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy. I have taught in the beautiful state of Maryland, where I currently reside. My passion for education led me to earn a Master of Education with a STEAMD focus, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Middle (1-8). I also hold several teaching certifications, including APL in Elementary and Middle (1-8), Reading, and Special Education. With my extensive background and qualifications, I am confident in my ability to support and guide learners in their educational journey. As an educator, I believe in making learning enjoyable and effective for my students. I strive to create an engaging and fun learning environment by connecting lesson topics to my learners' personal interests. I celebrate successes and encourage productive struggles, fostering a love of learning. My lessons are interactive and hands-on, utilizing various manipulatives to keep learners actively engaged. To ensure the effectiveness of online learning, I rely on visual and verbal cues from my learners, exit slips, direct observation and the support of Dojo's recording of their work during sessions. Outside of teaching, I enjoy a range of hobbies and interests that greatly influence my teaching style and methodology. I love coloring, listening to audio books, painting, and spending time in nature. My family, which includes my husband, children, and grandchildren, is a constant source of joy and inspiration. I also love spending time with my dog, Petey, swimming, and going to the beach. Through my diverse interests, I bring creativity, patience, and enthusiasm to my teaching, making it an enjoyable and rewarding experience for my learners. I have been teaching since 2014 to learners in grades K to 7th. My expertise and qualifications allow me to work closely with learners who may require extra support and assistance in their studies. I have had the pleasure of teaching in both Illinois and internationally, where I have gained valuable experience in tailoring my teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners and cultures. I am fluent in English and Filipino (Tagalog), which has allowed me to connect with learners from various backgrounds. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, yoga, traveling, and indulging in geeky and nerdy pop culture.

Hi!!! I'm Ms. Bri!! I have 3 plus years of experience teaching and tutoring different ages and stages, with 16 plus years working with children in other capacities such as case management, mental health, mentoring, and in a daycare setting. I love reading, writing, dancing, listening to music, and thrift shopping! I have a 4-year-old German Shepherd who weighs about 80 pounds, but thinks he weighs 5! My passion is connection with children and their families; connection helps with the learning and growth process.
