I have taught second grade through sixth grade learners in Missouri during my 31 years of teaching. My degrees include a B.S. in Elementary Education and two master's degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, and Administration. My hobbies include reading, travel, flower gardening, painting, sewing, and cooking. I believe that every child should enjoy learning. That's why I make online learning fun and engaging by relating it to the learner's interests. Learning is more effective when students are genuinely interested in what they are learning and this helps create a positive and enjoyable learning environment. I am passionate about helping learners reach their full potential and I strive to make a positive impact on their lives. I am looking forward to getting to know your learner and helping them reach their learning goals. Let's embark on this learning journey together!

Hi there! My name is Rebecca Jean — or Miss Jean, as my students call me 😁. With over 13 years of teaching experience in grades 2–5 across California and Arizona, I’ve helped all kinds of learners not just succeed, but actually enjoy learning. I hold a BA in Liberal Studies/Education with a minor in Physical Education from California State University, Chico and a California Multiple Subject Credential. I am also credentialed in Arizona, where I reside now. 🌵 As a ClassDojo Tutor, I genuinely enjoy creating personalized, interactive lessons that make learning engaging and fun for your scholar. Whether it’s turning fractions into pizza parties or using Pokémon and Minecraft for reading practice... I help students have those “I get it!” moments in a fun and relatable way, specifically tailored to their interests. I communicate openly with parents and keep you informed every step of the way, so you’ll see how your child is growing and get practical ideas to support their learning at home. Outside of tutoring, my hobbies include coaching youth cheerleading, learning Spanish, teaching dance and Zumba, baking, hiking, writing, traveling, and walking dogs! My goal is to help your child build skills, boost confidence, and develop a genuine love for learning… all while having a great time! ❤️ Hope to work with you soon ! ❤️Miss Jean

I have been teaching for 10 years and have taught Prek, Kindergarten, and First grade in North Carolina. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with a focus on Birth Through Kindergarten, as well as a Master's degree in Elementary Education. Additionally, I am certified in Birth through Kindergarten education. What sets me apart as a tutor is my dedication to making online learning fun and engaging for my learners. With my experience and expertise, I know just how to change my voice and use various strategies to keep kids interested and motivated during our sessions. As we explore different subjects, I will adapt my teaching style to best suit each learner's needs and learning style. I want my learners to look forward to their sessions with me and feel confident and excited to learn. Outside of teaching, I have a passion for reading, traveling, and spending time with my grand dogs. These interests definitely influence my teaching style and methodology. Reading allows me to bring new and interesting materials into our sessions, while traveling has given me a global perspective that enriches my teaching. And of course, my love for animals and spending time with my grand dogs has taught me patience and compassion, which are integral qualities in any good teacher. I am committed to creating a positive and nurturing learning environment for all my learners, and I can't wait to do the same for your child! https://tutor.classdojo.

Expert 2nd grade support, built around your child

Second grade builds on first grade foundations with longer texts, more complex math, and increased independence. Children are expected to read fluently, write in complete sentences, and solve two-digit addition and subtraction problems.

At Dojo Tutor, our 2nd grade tutors work 1-to-1 with your child to strengthen reading comprehension, writing skills, and math understanding. Sessions target the specific areas where your child needs support, making practice focused and effective.

The skills built in 2nd grade prepare children for the bigger academic demands of 3rd grade and beyond.
