I am a warm, patient, and dedicated elementary school tutor with over 10 years of experience in education. I specialize in building strong foundations in reading, writing, and math while helping children grow in confidence and curiosity. I believe every child learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to meet each student’s unique needs and learning style. I value strong communication with parents and strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where children can develop both academically and a genuine love of learning.

I have taught second grade through sixth grade learners in Missouri during my 31 years of teaching. My degrees include a B.S. in Elementary Education and two master's degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, and Administration. My hobbies include reading, travel, flower gardening, painting, sewing, and cooking. I believe that every child should enjoy learning. That's why I make online learning fun and engaging by relating it to the learner's interests. Hi! My name is Donna Sanford, and I am so excited to work with your child as a Dojo Tutor! I retired from teaching in 2022 after 27 years in the classroom. I immediately began working with Dojo Tutor and am one of the founding tutors. I have taught grades K, 1, 2, and 4, with the most time spent in K-2. I have a master's degree from the University of Tennessee with an early childhood specialization. While teaching, I gained experience tutoring students after school and also worked with Tier 2 kids in a small group setting. I became a Dojo Tutor because I love seeing kids grow and improve their reading fluency, comprehension, and writing skills. It is my hope to foster a love of reading and writing in students who were once struggling in these areas. I also try to make math more interesting by incorporating games, projects, and children’s literature when teaching math skills. I love to see kids improve their fact fluency and reasoning skills.
