Hi! I am currently an elementary school counselor in Texas. I have been a school counselor for 3 years, but prior to that I was an elementary music teacher and an elementary reading teacher. I have 4 years experience teaching music, and 4 years experience teaching Reading and Writing. I have two daughters: Aria (8 years old) and Dakota (1 year old). My husband is also an educator and coach at the middle school level. We enjoy nature, music, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to working with your child!

I have been teaching for 8 years and have experience working with learners in Kindergarten through 4th grade. My teaching journey began in Texas, where I taught for 8 years before joining the Dojo Tutor team. My passion for education and working with kids has led me to become a tutor and I am thrilled to help learners achieve their academic goals. In my 8 years of teaching, I have taught various grades and subjects including Kindergarten, Second Grade, Third Grade, and Fourth Grade. My expertise lies in Reading, but I am also familiar with all subjects in the primary grades. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Generalist Grades EC-6 teaching certification. My qualifications and experience have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to effectively support learners in their academic journey. As a tutor at Dojo Tutor, I am committed to making online learning enjoyable and effective for my students. I believe in building a strong relationship with my learners, which helps me to incorporate their interests into my lessons. I also love celebrating success with my learners and we often have fun little celebration chants or dances to keep them motivated. My approach to online learning is to establish clear expectations and attainable goals, while providing engaging lessons that keep learners interested and invested in their education. Outside of teaching, I have a variety of interests and hobbies that influence my teaching style. I love reading, baking, going for outdoor walks, and solving word search puzzles. These interests have taught me the value of finding joy in learning, which I try to pass on to my students. I believe that by incorporating their interests and making learning fun, I can help them develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime. I am excited to join you on this journey of learning and help your child reach their full potential!

I have been teaching for 5 years and have experience working with learners in Kindergarten through 2nd grade in math and ELA. I primarily taught in Oklahoma and have a Bachelors Degree in Child Studies and a Masters Degree in Education. My Oklahoma teaching certificate allows me to bring my expertise and love for teaching to students in need. I firmly believe that online learning doesn't have to be boring! In fact, I love to make things fun and exciting by creating lesson plans that are not only creative, but also cater to the interests of my learners. I understand that every child learns differently, which is why I make sure to incorporate different teaching strategies to ensure that online learning is effective. I remain positive and consistent in my approach, which keeps my learners engaged and motivated to learn. Aside from teaching, my personal interests include coaching and training Jiu Jitsu, playing guitar and piano, and writing my own music. As a musical person, I incorporate music and acting into my lesson plans to make learning even more enjoyable for my learners. For example, when we work on sight words, we love to sing about them as we repeat them! I am always open to incorporating my personal interests into my teaching style and methodology to make learning a fun and interactive experience for every learner.

Expert preschool reading support, built around your child

The preschool years are when children develop the foundational skills that make learning to read possible — letter recognition, phonological awareness, print concepts, and vocabulary. Early exposure to these skills predicts future reading success.

At Dojo Tutor, our early literacy specialists make pre-reading skills playful and engaging. Working 1-to-1 with your child, they build letter knowledge, sound awareness, and a love of books through songs, games, and interactive activities designed for young learners.

With the right early support, your child can enter kindergarten ready to learn to read.
