Reading Tutoring for 11th Grade

As a certified English Language Arts teacher, I have 4 years of experience teaching grades 7-10. I then transitioned to tutoring where I have been helping learners in grades 3-12 for over 6 months. I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's of Science in English Language Arts and Sociology and am certified to teach both subjects. My home is Utah, where I taught in public education and hold a Professional Teaching License in the Secondary Education Level (6-12) in both English Language Arts and Sociology from the Utah State Board of Education. My teaching style is human, story-based, and simple. I use a variety of methods to make online learning fun and engaging for my students. I believe that tailoring lessons to each learner's interests and incorporating manipulatives can make learning more enjoyable and effective. By engaging multiple senses, students are more likely to retain information and stay interested. I also check for understanding throughout the lesson and use the gradual release of responsibility to support learners. Outside of teaching, I love to read, spend time outdoors, and be creative. These interests definitely influence my teaching style as I believe in the importance of multiple perspectives and problem-solving, just like in art. I am passionate about helping learners grow and succeed, and I am excited to bring my skills and experience to Dojo Tutor. Hi! I love teaching, and working with kids of all ages! I’ve been teaching since I was 16 years old with swim lessons, and finally became a teacher in 2020! I love to write, and have published a book for middle grade readers! Some of my hobbies are walking/hiking, drawing, swimming, and playing video games. When I’m not tutoring, I love spending time with my family!

My journey began in second grade when I felt called and knew teaching would always be my passion. I have been blessed to teach in public, private, and online settings, giving me the opportunity to grow immensely, becoming more creative, intentional, and effective.

I have been teaching for 10 wonderful years, working with kids from early childhood to 12th grade all around Texas. My Master of Education in Special Education has prepared me to understand and support all kinds of learners, helping them shine brightly in their own unique ways!

As a tutor with 2 years of teaching experience and 4+ years of tutoring experience, I have a passion for providing personalized education to help learners reach their full potential. I have taught English, including English as a Second Language (ESL), and tutored in Mathematics. My teaching and tutoring experience has been mainly in the Mountain West region of the United States, but I am excited to connect with families and learners from all over the world through online learning! In addition to my Associate of Science in General Studies with High Honors, I also hold a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate. I am also fluent in Tagalog. I also make sure to set SMART goals and celebrate when those goals are met, while also adjusting my approach to meet the specific needs of each learner. Outside of teaching, I have a variety of interests and hobbies that influence my teaching style and methodology. I love horseback riding, hiking, and swing dancing, and I am an avid reader. These personal interests help me make real-life connections to the material, collaborate with learners and their families, and foster a love for learning. Hi my name is Mr. Moore and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have over 26 years of experience teaching English/Language Arts to learners in grades 6-12. Throughout my teaching career, I have had the pleasure of teaching a variety of subjects including AP English, Honors English, and English grades 7-12 in the state of Ohio. As an experienced educator, I am dedicated to making online learning enjoyable and effective for my learners. I believe that getting to know my learners is crucial in creating an engaging learning environment. I always look for the positives in each lesson and strive to make learning fun for my learners. By staying positive and incorporating fun into our lessons, I am able to ensure that my learners are engaged and excited to learn! When I am not teaching, you can find me cheering on my kids at their sports games or watching my favorite teams, the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes, play. I also enjoy reading, going on road trips, and spending time outdoors. My personal interests greatly influence my teaching style and methodology. I love using road trips as opportunities to learn about history and different places. I truly believe that we can learn from everything we experience, and I try to incorporate that mindset into my teaching.

With six years of experience teaching kids from first grade all the way to twelfth, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to help curious minds grow in Arizona, Texas, and even in Poland. My background in business management and my passion for education fuel my enthusiasm to make learning fun and engaging for every student I meet! I believe that learning online can be just as exciting as being in a classroom. Each session I offer is packed with interactive activities that relate to what’s happening in the lives of my learners. I love kicking things off with a fun question of the day or chatting about our latest adventures, which sets a bright and welcoming tone! When I’m not teaching, I’m probably planning my next travel adventure, whipping up a new dish in the kitchen, or enjoying a good podcast.
