Math Tutoring for 5th Grade

I have taught math for eight years, from 5th grade (most fun!) to high school. Now I teach 6th grade, and what I most like to talk about is the Math Dance! My students love it and do well.

I have been teaching for 20 years and have had the pleasure of working with a variety of learners. From 4th to 12th grade, I have taught everything from math and science to biology and forensics. My experience has taken me to Florida, Utah, and Oregon, where I have gained a diverse understanding of different teaching methods and approaches. I hold a BS in Biology and an MS in Curriculum & Instruction. I am also certified in PK-12 Integrated Science in Oregon. But enough about my qualifications, let's talk about what really matters - making learning fun and effective for my kids! I know online learning can be challenging, but I have strategies to keep the pace up and engage my learners with lots of questions and informal assessments. When I'm not teaching, you can find me walking, hiking, or curled up with a good book. I am always looking for ways to make learning more engaging and dynamic, too! I have been in education for the past 15 years. I started with student teaching in second grade and during this time I was tutoring at STARS math and reading academy with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. When I first started teaching I worked with gifted and talented students in 3rd grade. I stayed in 3rd grade for the next school year and then moved to first. I worked with first grade for most of my teaching experience but also was working with 5th and 6th grade students as well. Then I spent 2 school years as a reading interventionist for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. This past school year I was a 4th/5th grade math and science teacher. Currently I am fifth grade teacher at a brand new charter school, teaching all subjects. I have my bachelor's in elementary education, my masters in education administration and also am a reading recovery certified through Clemson University.

Hi, my name is Miss Schnell, and I am excited to begin this learning journey with you! I have four years of teaching experience in both private and public school settings. I am currently teaching 5th grade math and science, and previously taught 4th grade across all subject areas, including physical education. My teaching experience has been in Pennsylvania, where I currently reside. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education in Early Childhood Education, with minors in Special Education and Diagnostics and Intervention Strategies for Students with Mathematical Disabilities. I also earned a Master of Education in Learning, Design, and Technology Education. In addition, I am currently working toward a second Master of Education focused on K–8 Math and Science Instruction, which I expect to complete within the next year. I am certified in Pennsylvania for grades PK–4 and 5–6 in all subject areas. With my qualifications and experience, I am confident in my ability to support and inspire young learners throughout their educational journey.

With 8 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of teaching learners in grades 3, 5, and 6th grade English and Spanish language arts. I've been lucky enough to teach in Colorado and Mexico City. My love for teaching began after interning as an English teacher in a Chilean public school while studying abroad. This inspired me to pursue a Post-Bachelors in Elementary Education and ultimately a Masters of Science of Public Policy. I am a certified elementary education teacher with a passion for making learning fun and engaging for my students. In addition to being fluent in English, I am also fluent in Spanish. My name is Mrs. Carter and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been teaching primarily in Florida for 22 years. My experience has been mainly with 2nd-5th grade learners, which has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the elementary curriculum and the needs of my students. I hold a BA in Education and a MA in Elementary Education, along with several certifications including ESOL, Reading, Health Education, and Media Specialist.
