With 15 years of teaching experience, I have helped countless learners in grades 2nd-8th in all subjects. I have taught in both Texas and Alaska, bringing my unique teaching style and love for learning to diverse communities. My passion for education has led me to earn an Associate of Arts in Teaching and a Bachelor's in Multidisciplinary Studies with an ESL endorsement. As a Certified EC - 8 Generalist and EC - 8 ESL Supplemental, I am dedicated to providing a quality education for all learners. My teaching style is human, story-based, and empathic - always putting the needs of my learners first. I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, especially in the online setting. I bring high energy levels, interactive activities, and focus on building strong relationships with my kids and families. This not only creates a positive learning environment but also encourages active participation and retention of information. Outside of teaching, I am an animal rescue enthusiast and an outdoor enthusiast. Whether it's hiking, camping, or canoeing, I love spending time in nature and exploring new places. These interests definitely influence my teaching style and methodology as I am compassionate, adventurous, and not afraid to get my hands dirty. I bring this same energy and passion into my teaching, making learning not only effective but also enjoyable for my learners.

With 8 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of teaching learners in grades 3, 5, and 6th grade English and Spanish language arts. I've been lucky enough to teach in Colorado and Mexico City. My love for teaching began after interning as an English teacher in a Chilean public school while studying abroad. This inspired me to pursue a Post-Bachelors in Elementary Education and ultimately a Masters of Science of Public Policy. I am a certified elementary education teacher with a passion for making learning fun and engaging for my students. In addition to being fluent in English, I am also fluent in Spanish. I believe that incorporating students' interests into the curriculum is key to making online learning enjoyable. I do this by finding ways to connect their learning to things they love, whether it be through interactive games, virtual field trips, or creative projects. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, cooking, crafting, and exploring new areas. These interests directly influence my teaching style and methodology. My love for reading and writing drives my passion for developing strong literacy skills in my learners. My love for travel helps me to connect learning to the broader international community, and my love for crafting and building things from scratch aligns perfectly with my constructivist approach to learning. I strongly believe that learners should be active participants in their life-long learning journey, and I am excited to bring your family along with me.

Hi my name is Ms. Aliyah and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been a teacher for 19 years, teaching grades 1-6 in general education subjects such as math, science, social studies, literacy, and writing. My experience has been primarily in the state of Maryland, where I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of learners in various school settings. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Business Administration, providing me with a well-rounded background in both education and business. As an experienced educator, I hold an Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) in Elementary Education 1-6 and middle school, with specialized proficiencies in Special Education and reading. My goal is to create a positive and engaging learning environment for my students, both in person and online. I believe in infusing fun and interactive elements into my online lessons, through gamification, social-emotional learning check-ins, and student choice. I also make sure to celebrate my learner's achievements, creating a sense of motivation and accomplishment. Outside of teaching, I am a lover of reading, traveling, and watching movies. These interests not only enrich my personal life, but also influence my teaching style and methodology. My passion for reading allows me to deliver engaging read-alouds using expressive voices and storytelling, while promoting critical thinking skills through complex texts. Similarly, my love for traveling and curiosity about different cultures helps me build strong relationships with my students, as I share personal travel stories and welcome their diverse perspectives into our lessons. I can't wait to embark on this exciting learning journey with you and your family!

At Dojo Tutor, our 5th grade math tutors work 1-to-1 with your child to strengthen foundational skills and build new ones. Whether it's multiplying decimals, dividing fractions, or understanding volume, sessions target your child's specific needs with clear explanations and practice.

With personalized support, your child can enter middle school with the math confidence and skills they need to succeed.
