Kindergarten Tutoring

I have been teaching for 24 years, working with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. I was born and raised in Michigan, and have taught a variety of subjects in the elementary grades, including reading, writing, math and science. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two Australian Shepherds, reading and listening to true crime podcasts.

I am a 22nd year educator that absolutely loves teaching. I am a graduate of Alcorn State University and of Freed-Hardeman University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, my Masters of Science in Elementary Education and my Education Specialist in Instructional Leadership. I am also a mother of 2 and we love to travel! I have been to 15 states, Rome, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Panama and the Cayman Islands.

I have been teaching and working with learners from Kindergarten to 12th grade in subjects such as Reading, Writing, Science, and Math. My teaching experience has primarily been in Nevada, where I am currently located. I hold a Master of Arts in Education with a major in Special Education and am certified to teach K-12 in Nevada. As a tutor, I strive to make online learning enjoyable and effective for my students. I believe that incorporating technology in my teaching is key to keeping learners engaged. That's why I make use of tools like Kahoot, Brainzy, and Fun Brain to spice up my lessons. With the help of videos, audio, and images, I aim to create a fun and interactive learning environment for my students. Aside from teaching, one of my passions is playing tennis. Whether it's on the court or in the virtual world, I believe that sports can teach us valuable lessons about discipline, hard work, and teamwork. As a teacher, I always try to incorporate these values into my teaching style. Hi my name is Ms. Cross and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been teaching for more than 7 years and have found my true passion in working with young learners, particularly in grades 1 and 2. With four wonderful years of teaching experience under my belt, I've had the joy of working with kids in 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades across the sunny states of Texas, North Carolina, and Colorado. Not only have I taught core subjects, but I've also helped kids thrive as part of the special education team, as a reading interventionist for grades K - 5. With 14 years of teaching experience, I have had the joy of teaching learners from Kindergarten to 3rd grade in ELA and Math. I have taught in various regions, but I currently reside in Louisiana. My educational background includes a degree in Human Development and a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on early literacy. Additionally, I hold a TEFL certification, enabling me to teach English as a foreign language. I am also a state-certified Mentor Teacher in Louisiana, guiding and supporting other educators in their professional growth.

Hello! I’m a certified teacher with four years of experience working with students who have severe and complex disabilities. I’m ATP certified and have experience supporting communication through AAC devices, including LAMP, Proloquo2Go, and TouchChat software. Let's use technology to support learning and daily living as needed. I believe learning should be meaningful, engaging, and fun! My tutoring sessions focus on hands-on, real-life learning experiences that help students strengthen their skills and build confidence along the way. Hi! My name is Donna Sanford, and I am so excited to work with your child as a Dojo Tutor! I retired from teaching in 2022 after 27 years in the classroom. I immediately began working with Dojo Tutor and am one of the founding tutors. I have taught grades K, 1, 2, and 4, with the most time spent in K-2. I have a master's degree from the University of Tennessee with an early childhood specialization. While teaching, I gained experience tutoring students after school and also worked with Tier 2 kids in a small group setting. I became a Dojo Tutor because I love seeing kids grow and improve their reading fluency, comprehension, and writing skills. It is my hope to foster a love of reading and writing in students who were once struggling in these areas. I also try to make math more interesting by incorporating games, projects, and children’s literature when teaching math skills. I love to see kids improve their fact fluency and reasoning skills. My goal for my students is to make math meaningful and fun!
